Is autoimmunity a wake up call to a toxic environment?
How chronic illness may be a call to heal both body and planet
Hello my Thyroid Friend,
It’s interesting, that those with autoimmune issues are told that their body is the problem, their body gets ‘confused’ and starts attacking itself, how ‘stupid’ of it. That it’s their body’s fault it is over-reacting to its environment – ‘How dare you be so hysterical!’.
But what if it wasn’t a problem with our body? What if, quite the opposite, our body was so finely tuned to it’s environment, this exceptional sensor, that it was correctly responding to an imbalanced, dysfunctional, toxic environment?
That we were the canaries in the coal mine, sensing the toxicity before anyone else? Being the signal, being able to see ahead – and say ‘we must stop with this before more damage is done’.
We live in a toxic soup of an environment, from what we eat and drink to the clothes we wear, the products we put on our bodies, the air we breath, the EMFs emitted from digital devices, and constant fear-mongering news cycles. Don’t tell me my body is ‘over-reacting’ or ‘getting confused’. I think my body is pretty spot on. The difference to the ‘normal’ is that mine has a heightened awareness of it’s environment. It knows long before.
What if we are the ones here to sound the alarm? To say – look at what we are doing to this earth? Look at the chemicals we are polluting it with, and therefore ourselves, with. Is this really how we want to continue living?
Do we not care about our place in all this? Don’t we want to look after this earth? This is our only home. What do we have left when it is gone?
I’m done with the medical gaslighting.
I’m done with the blame being put onto our bodies.
I’m done with the madness!
Many souls are beginning to wake up to these realities. We are beginning to see the consequences, in real time, of where solely focusing on profit and power, gets us as a human race.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with making a profit! That’s how we make a living! In fact, I’m an advocate for being self-employed and doing things your own way (if that’s the path you choose). But we can see the corruption happening with big businesses where profit is the only thing they care about.
Can’t we run a business as well as ensuring it doesn’t harm the environment or the health of people?
Can’t we run a business and do it with integrity?
Why does it have to be at the detriment to the health and wellbeing of the earth and the population?
It’s all been about getting the price as low as possible, and getting things made as quickly as possible, but we’ve ended up destroying our soil, water and air (and our health!), with the use of these chemicals that help us cut corners.
I think this is why I see, thankfully, a movement of conscious small business owners who are determined to do things differently. They are sensitive beings who want to serve people in a way that is for their highest good.
It’s not about ripping people off and swindling people. It’s not solely about short-term gains. It’s focus is on sustainability. On authenticity. On integrity. It’s about providing an authentic service/product to help-others, through sharing their gifts, in a way which respects the environment we live. Their focus? Their soul’s calling. Living symbiotically with the earth - not trying to fight it or power over it.
I have met so many beautiful autoimmune thyroid warriors who are part of this movement. Their experience with their disease has made them more compassionate and caring about the planet and other human beings. They are determined to do things differently, with soul, with integrity. They actually care about their clients and customers, and want them to get value from what they are offering them.
I know for me, it has made me so passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with my thyroid health journey. It has made me want to make a positive difference, even if it is just to one soul, so that my experience with autoimmunity has been meaningful.
There is a conscious business-owner movement building, and there is hope, that as a humanity, we can turn things around. If you are one of them, please do reach out and let me know - I’d love to connect!
Much love, Dani
